LIBRARY SPEAKER SERIES

The Albuquerque Special Collections Library, located at 423 Central NE, conducts a monthly speaker series related to Albuquerque history, held the second Saturday of each month beginning at 10:30 in Botts Hall.  The early talks focused on the old communities in the Albuquerque area, such as Barelas, Alameda and Corrales.  For this effort, the Library teamed with Oasis.

People Create Cities

Beginning February 2015, the Library focused its 2015/2016 series on the different ethnic groups, to include Asians, Italians, Germans, Sikhs and the Welch, who settled in Albuquerque.  Diane Schaller, president of HAI, assisted the Library and Oasis in finding knowledgeable speakers for this program.

Making Change

Beginning in July 2016, the Library's speaker program focuses on businesses, people, and projects that shaped Albuquerque.  Diane Schaller arranged, with Eileen O'Connell (head of the Special Collections branch), to have speakers for this program through the end of 2017.  Being such a broad subject area, this series will continue to the end of 2018. More information on this series can be found on the Library's web site by clicking here.
